Insurance Definitions

PR01N PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY

Coverage for sums that the insured becomes legally obligated to pay, because of injury to a 3rd party arising from the rendering or failure to render professional services described on the declaration pages. This includes care of the individual, loss of services or death because of the injury.

LR02N COMMERCIAL GENERAL LIABILITY

Coverage for sums that the insured becomes legally obligated to pay because of bodily injury or property damage to a 3rd party while the 3rd party is in the insured’s care. Examples of claims: slip and fall, massage table that collapsed, oil spilled on client’s fur coat.

PERSONAL INJURY AND ADVERTISING LIABILITY

Injury arising out of oral or written material that slanders or libels a person or organization; oral or written material that violates a person’s right of privacy; misappropriation of advertising ideas or style of doing business or infringement of copyright, title or slogan. It also includes injury due to false arrest or detention, malicious prosecution, wrongful eviction or wrongful entry.

TENANTS LEGAL LIABILITY

Property damage to premises of others, which are rented to the insured or occupied by the insured. This can include fire, smoke damage, explosion, etc.

MEDICAL PAYMENTS

The insurance company will pay for medical expenses to a 3rd party for bodily injury caused by an accident on the premise the insured rents or occupies, on ways next to the premise, regardless of fault.

PR11N LEGAL EXPENSE COVERAGE

Reimbursement of legal expenses arising from a legally constituted tribunal, board, board of inquiry, board of review, commission, etc. to hear or review evidence in relation to a proceeding covered by the policy. Normally associated with allegations of abuse (physical, verbal, sexual). Insured must be found not guilty to be reimbursed.

CRIMINAL DEFENCE COST REIMBURSEMENT

Forms part of PR11N (Legal Expense Coverage) and reimburses the insured for legal expenses arising from criminal or civil proceedings normally associated with allegations of abuse. Insured must be found not guilty to be reimbursed.

BF02N BUSINESS PROTECTION COVERAGE

Damage to contents of the named insured from all risks, subject to $500 deductible. Includes $10,000 basket of coverages which includes glass, outdoor signs, contents in transit, contents at unnamed locations, fine arts, money and business interruption. ABUSE

Act or threat involving molestation, harassment, corporal punishment, assault or battery or any other form of sexual, physical, mental, psychological or emotional abuse.

SUPPLEMENTARY NON-OWNED AUTOMOBILE LIABILITY

Indemnification for the insured, for loss or damage to a 3rd party from the operation of an automobile not owned or licensed to the insured. If an employee is involved in an accident, while on company business and while using their own vehicle.
